When the Circus Comes to Town will showcase Nova Scotia artists to music buyers and producers within the film, television and new media sectors from the United States and Vancouver - Canada's largest film and television production centre. The Olympics is the biggest stage in the world for our athletes to achieve their dreams of gold and our goal is to help our artists reach to fulfill their dreams.

"At the same time as our athletes perform on the world stage of competitive sport, many of our Nova Scotia musicians will take to the stage to showcase their talents with performances throughout the duration of the Olympics," said Music Nova Scotia President, Brian Doherty. "Music Nova Scotia will be there to assist with the development of the many exporting opportunities that are expected as a result of this wonderful showcasing opportunity.".

"The Atlantic Film Festival has had an on-going relationship with our music industry partners throughout the Atlantic region to support the dreams of our artists," said AFF Director of Operations, Andrea Dawson Thomas. "We are continuing that relationship by helping to develop business opportunities for Nova Scotia musicians here in Vancouver during the 2010 Olympics".

About When the Circus Comes to Town: A showcase and networking reception held for music buyers and artists at Atlantic Canada House on Granville Island - one of Vancouver's most historic sites. This is an invite-only event that will feature music showcases by:

Eligible applicants must submit a two-minute clip of previous work on DVD or VHS (submission can be in any genre and style - annimation, fiction, documentary) and must be available from May 12 - 22 and September 16 - 26, 2010 for specific event participation. Submission deadline is Thursday, February 16, 2010. Eligible applications must:

• Be between the ages of 18 and 30 years of age before Saturday, May 30, 2010
• Be currently registered or enrolled in or graduate of an official film school or film program in Nova Scotia
• Have a valid passport until the end of May, 2010
• Possess working knowledge of the French Language (B1 level - intermediate)
• Have a two-minute clip reel of previous works on DVD or VHS
• Be available for the dates as listed above
• Not have French citizenship
