Film crisis 'exciting opportunity to re-invent ourselves' – keynote message at Strategic Partners 2011

(Halifax, NS, September 20, 2011) The film world is witnessing the end of an era – and the beginning of a new, and potentially invigorating cycle – according to Michel Reilhac keynote speaker at Strategic Partners 2011.

“It's an exciting opportunity to re-invent ourselves. Challenging and risky as any unchartered territory,” the Head of Cinema at Arte France told select film, television and multi-platform producers from 13 countries who converged on Halifax Sept. 15-18.

Private financing, branded content and transmedia are the panel discussion topics at the Atlantic Film Festival’s co-production market focusing on feature film, television fiction and multi-platform projects, set for Halifax Sept. 15-18.

ViewFinders Workshop Series - Weekly, April 1 - 22

Each week in April, leading up to the ViewFinders Film Competition deadline (May 1st, 2015), ViewFinders will be offering a filmmaking workshop for youth at the Atlantic Filmmakers Cooperative (AFCOOP).

Workshops are FREE to attend, but pre-registration is required.

Calling all Educators! Register your class for the 2015 ViewFinders Atlantic Film Festival for Youth, NOW.

Since its inception, ViewFinders has brought over 50,000 young people to the movies. Through daytime screenings and workshops that have become popular as an annual class-trip destination for local teachers and their students, ViewFinders offers the best of international and local film while celebrating the original works of Atlantic Canadian young people with a passion for film and video.
 

ViewFinders Film Competition - CALL FOR ENTRIES

ViewFinders announces the 2015 Youth Film Competition presented by DHX Media! Youth, 18 and under, from the Atlantic Provinces, are invited to submit their short films by Friday, May 1 at 5 p.m. All films must be under five minutes long. The top entries are eligible for prizes that will be awarded at a special red carpet screening on Saturday, June 6.  Prizes will be awraded in three categories (animation, live action and documentary), as well as a grand prize.

As part of The Shortest Day celebration, the Atlantic Film Festival offers free short film programs for kids and families at the NEW Halifax Central Library, December 20 & 21

The Atlantic Film Festival is pleased to partner with the National Film Board of Canada, Quebec’s SODEC, Telefilm Canada and the Halifax Central Library to screen two short film programs as part of The Shortest Day 2014 celebration of Canadian short films. The free screenings, including one Kids Program and one Family Program, will be presented at the NEW Halifax Central Library, December 20 and 21.
