- Music can be integral to your film's vision. A certain song in a specific scene can create a unique moment that is remembered forever. The 29th Atlantic Film Festival is pleased to offer a workshop designed to give you an in-depth look at the integration of music into film through an analysis of the music-film connection. Designed to give you, the Film Producer or Director, the knowledge needed to navigate the music industry, this session will delve into the creative, licensing and business processes involved in placing music into film. This class is targeted toward filmmakers, directors and productions.

- Calling Musicians, The 29th Atlantic Film Festival is pleased to offer this full-day workshop facilitated by Jan Miller. Designed for export-ready artists, managers and companies who wish to perfect their presentation and pitching skill sets while developing relationships with key industry players from the film and television industries (music placement supervisors, music buyers and producers). This class is targeted toward musicians, their managers and agents.

- This Music & Image program open to both Atlantic Film Festival Delegates and Music & Image Delegates is targeted towards Emerging Composers and Film Directors, providing them with the opportunity to work together on the composition of an original score for an original short film cue with the participation of the 37 musician Symphony Nova Scotia. This class is targeted toward emerging music composers and directors.

Meeting Request Deadline: Friday, September 11, 5pm (Atlantic Time)- Meet One-on-One with Music Industry Professionals from Across North America... Your music could be placed in the next episode of Grey's Anatomy
- International music industry professionals and buyers from across Canada and the United States will travel to Halifax to take part
in this year's Music & Image One-on-One Sessions. This is a not-to-be missed opporunity to meet with high-profile film, television and new media
industry professionals. Each 15-minute meeting has been crafted to allow export-ready artists and representatives face-to-face meetings with these industry players
including buyers, music supervisors, publishers and film producers. There will also be scheduled networking events and mixers arranged to facilitate the development
of contacts and building of relationships within the industry. This class is targeted towards export-ready musicians, their managers, agents or
representation and is open to registered delegates of the Atlantic Film Festival or Music & Image program.

Wednesday, September 23, 2:45pm to 4pm Delta Halifax Bluenose Ballroom (8th Floor)- An indepth look at the process of finding the right music for the right scene
Moderated by: Darren Fung, Second Vice President of the Guild of Canadian Film Composers - This panel will look at a film that will be screening at the 29th Atlantic Film Festival in order to examine the process of finding the right music from both a creative and production standpoint. Working with your composer and music supervisor will be topics that are explored keeping in mind the constraints of a budget.

Moderated by: Darren Fung, Second Vice President of the Guild of Canadian Film Composers - The business side of commissioning original music for film or television is something that is not often discussed in film school. This panel will dive into some of the legal and business dilemmas of commissioning music for a film. We will look at specific scenarios that reflect the realities of the emerging filmmaker in Canada, and discuss them at length with panelists who have diverse perspectives, including a music supervisor, a producer, a director, and a composer.

With Panelists: Paul Stillo (SOCAN), Tom Third (Durham Country & The Listner), Ari Posner (Flashpoint) Blain Morris (The Trailer Park Boys) - Join three of Canada's leading composers as they delve into the creative process behind composing music for film and television. These composers have worked on such projects as the hit shows The Listener, The Trailor Park Boys and Flashpoint. This event will include live performances from each of the composers as they demonstrate the skills necessary to integrate music into TV and film and its effect on the final product. Learn how the director-composer relationship affects the creative process and how to protect artistic integrity while serving the film.
