FAQ
(Frequently Asked Questions!)
Can more than one member of a company attend the event?
Yes. There is a maximum of two delegates per company. The second delegate from the same company can register for an additional $400 CAD (plus 13% tax = $452 CAD). Registration for a single delegate is $525 CAD (plus 13% tax = $593.25 CAD)
Can I attend without a project?
Yes. If you intend to apply without a project, please tell us specifically what you are hoping to achieve in attending SP so that we can assist you in reaching your goals.
How are projects/production companies selected?
An internal selection committee reviews each application to consider the level of co-production experience of the production company applying, the creative and commercial merits of the projects, the amount of financing attached, the co-production possibilities, as well as the number of delegates with compatible objectives.
Why are animation projects not included in SP?
Given the size of SP (a maximum of 200 delegates), we do not feel that it is possible to serve all genres effectively. Most animation broadcasters and production companies work exclusively in this area, whereas many of the broadcasters and producers who participate in film and television, live action and documentaries are involved in more than one genre. Thus, the latter group is better suited to interact with all of the delegates.
When do applicants find out whether or not if they have been selected?
Selected delegates will be notified via email in late July
Is simultaneous translation available at Strategic Partners?
Budget contrainsts do not allow for the provision of simultaneous translation services. All formal events at SP will be presented in English only.
When do delegates receive their Strategic Partners Catalogues?
A link to the SP Catalogue and Supplement in PDF format will be emailed to every delegate in late August. A hard copy will be available for every delegate upon registration in Halifax.
Are my meeting choices guaranteed?
SP will do everything it can to set up your top meeting choices. However, high demand for meetings with particular delegates may require that SP will have to move to 'alternate' names on your list, so please be sure to send your list in order of priority.
When will I receive my meeting schedule?
Individual meeting schedules are provided when you register at SP. Any adjustment/changes to the schedule will then be made on site directly with the other party. As the event is intimate, it is easy to find the person you want to meet with to change times or to arrange for another meeting.
Can delegates pre-book meetings with delegates without going through SP?
Please do not book meetings during the One-on-One time slots in advance of your arrival. This avoids scheduling conflicts. The One-on-One time slots are indicated on the overall SP schedule to be found on this website. Priority is given to all meetings booked by SP during these specific times.
What does SP registration include?
Registration provides delegates with the following
- access to all market events including one-on-one meetings, panels, keynotes, broadcaster and provincial buzz sessions
- continental breakfasts
- lunches
- the Film Nova Scotia 'wrap' Lobster Dinner held at the historic St. Mary's Boat Club
- access to Atlantic Film Festival screenings, parties and networking events during SP
Do SP delegates need to register separately for the Atlantic Film Festival?
You do not have to register for the Atlantic Film Festival during your time with SP, as your delegate badge will get you into all AFF activities, first come, first served. After SP, reduced Festival rates will be available.
Am I required to attend the entire SP event?
Although it is not always possible, all delegates are encouraged to schedule three days to ensure that their requested meetings can be scheduled with all other parties. Less time at SP, means less time for one-on-one meetings.
