Christine is one of the most prolific and acclaimed film and television producers in independent film today. She has produced more than 40 films for theatrical release, receiving numerous awards and nominations including Academy Awards, Golden Globes, Independent Spirit Awards and Gotham Awards, and top prizes from every major film festival. Highlights include: Kimberly Pierce's Boys Don't Cry (for which Hilary Swank won the Academy Award); Robert Altman's The Company; and every film directed by Todd Haynes, including Far From Heaven, I'm Not There and Velvet Goldmine. And yet even with this remarkable track record, and her inspired choices, Christine believes that the future is unwritten. |

As an award-winning producer, Lazlo has over 30 years experience in the film and television industry. In 1982, he founded Barna-Alper Productions. Renowned for its remarkable dramatic and documentary productions, Barna-Alper garnered many national and international awards for his films and television including the powerful drama Hard Time: The David Milgaard Story and \multiple award winning series DaVinci's Inquest and Turning Points in History. In 2008, Barna-Alper was acquired by Entertainment One and Laszlo became President of the Television Group, producing a variety of leading content within Canada and the US: the supernatural drama Haven for SyFy and Canwest, the HBO hit series Hung; the highly-acclaimed police drama, Rookie Blue for ABC and Canwest; The Bridge produced for CBS and CTV; and the North American adaptation of the UK smash hit Skins for MTV (US) and TMN/MC. Laszlo set the bar for Canadian television which has now taken hold of many international broadcaster schedules. Here he analyzes the elements that have brought this success about. |
