One of the world's most established co‐production/co-financing markets, the 20th anniversary of Strategic Partners, is now open for project submissions, and industry registrations. Strategic Partners is pleased to announce the second of a two-year Spotlight on the Nordic Region and the USA. In 2017, the focus is on dramatic feature film, television, and digital fiction content created for new and existing platforms. This includes projects in all stages of development, looking for financing and essential partnerships. This September, Strategic Partners will include selected producers from around the globe, representing a ‘best in class’ roster of officially selected projects. To support these projects, Strategic Partners will host an international senior level delegation of financiers, broadcasters, distributors, sales agents and funding agencies, looking to invest.

Strategic Partners is a one-stop shop for projects looking for partners. A global trendsetter, the event attracts producers whose projects represent fresh and innovative ways to tell stories, across all platforms.  Priority is given to projects considered to have both commercial and international appeal. Strategic Partners provides a full agenda of 25 minute, pre-scheduled 1-2-1 meetings with investors/broadcasters/distributors/sales agents, participation in investor and co-production focused roundtable sessions, cutting edge panels and visionary keynote speakers. The event’s two-day linear program is designed to provide unparalleled access to international co-production/ co-financing possibilities. All of this happens under one roof, set against the backdrop of the Atlantic Film Festival and the vibrant, coastal city of Halifax, Nova Scotia.

“SP feels manageable. Industry folks get overwhelmed with events that have a million different events and parties, so I think what’s been great about this and what makes it different, is I’m able to have meaningful conversations and follow-ups, and I will be able to leave this and remember the conversations I have had.”

Llewelynn Greeff – Dark Matter Studios

California, USA

“It was very well organized, excellent selection and balance of attendees and definitely a catalyst to many success stories to come. Best way for me to sum for me was... ‘I think its the industry's best kept secret.’ Out of all the festivals we attended this year, this was the highlight thus far.”

Alexis Galfas – Cinetic Media

New York, New York

“It seems there’s a lot of potential to do business. I think it’s also just nice having that exposure. I feel it’s very productive, but also a very engaging environment rather than a rushed, chaotic option. I think also it seems like a curated group of people. The meetings I’ve had have been very well matched and it seems that everyone that I’ve met with has lead to or could lead to something more.”

Helen Asimakis – CBC

Toronto, Ontario

“It feels intimate - you get to meet and talk to just about everybody. By the end of the two and a half days, you’ve had the opportunity to connect to everyone here.”

Charles Hopkins – Shoreline Entertainment

California, USA

“We come back because we’re very aware of the incentives to shoot in Canada with co-productions and soft money. If it’s a project, great, if it’s a Canadian project, even better. I do think that’s what makes SP better is the projects, there’s quality control and a sense that (the producers) can produce a good film.”

Lars Hermann – Danish Broadcasting Corporation

Copenhagen, Denmark

“We thought it would be a very focused place to meet both broadcasters and producers as well as possibilities of collaboration. It’s not really just about co-production possibilities, it’s about exploring whatever possibilities there are, whether it’s pre-buys, helping with access to funds or whatever ways of collaborating there are.”

Paul Brett – Prescience

London, England

“Literally every conversation is useful, positive and engaging. Every panel I attend, I find useful and productive. It’s very intimate, you get really high caliber people here and you get to know them.”

Cosima von Spreti – Tele Muenchen International

“For my company, we’re really looking to go more into co-productions. We’ve been working with Muse Entertainment, for example, on the scale of European mixed with the US. Just hoping to get more access to Canadians producers and broadcasters and to the whole landscape.”

Tania Sarra – Carnaby International Sales and Distribution

London, England

“The team at SP collated a fantastic group of delegates all in one room over a three day period. Getting access to this quality of industry professionals would otherwise require a lot of time and effort, and the amount of meetings I had would’ve probably taken a year to come about. It was incredibly productive from a networking standpoint and hopefully there will be some great projects Carnaby can jump on as a co-producer. The experience was invaluable and I’d come back every year if I could!”

Yael Strasberg – eOne

Toronto, Ontario

“I think it’s been really interesting getting the Nordic and Scandinavian perspective. There’s a lot of opportunity for co-productions.  If it’s not right for us in Canada, it might be better for a different branch of our business at eOne.”

Tom Hastings – Bell Media

Toronto, Ontario

“The world of dramatic television has never been as robust and cutting-edge as it is now and it feels like everyone around the world is pulling together in the same direction to continue to create globally recognized, blue-chip drama. Being able to meet with producers and broadcasters from around the world, especially from Europe, is an invaluable opportunity.”
