About This Year's Academies

The ViewFinders Summer Video Academies for Youth sponsored by
the Nova Scotia Department of Education African Canadian Services
are two FREE summer camps for youth ages 13 – 18 that will take
place in Halifax in July and August.

Those attending will have the opportunity to explore significant
social issues affecting youth today: teen pregnancy and gang
violence while learning the basics of filmmaking. The video will
combine performance, documentary and music elements. Participants
will take part in three different components of filmmaking: Scriptwriting,
Music and Production.

The films will be screened at the ViewFinders Gala during the 29th
Atlantic Film Festival on September 26th, 2009.
