National Canadian Film Day: UNARMED VERSES

AIFF is bringing Charles Officer’s documentary UNARMED VERSES to Cineplex Cinemas Park Lane in downtown Halifax for National Canadian Film Day on April 17 at 6:30PM for FREE! Join us for this event at no charge and celebrate this incredible film and filmmaker, and Canadian cinema.

This feature documentary presents a thoughtful and vivid portrait of a community facing imposed relocation. At the centre of the story is a remarkably astute and luminous 12-year-old black girl whose poignant observations about life, the soul, and the power of art give voice to those rarely heard in society. UNARMED VERSES is a cinematic rendering of our universal need for self-expression and belonging.

UNARMED VERSES had its world premiere at Hot Docs 2017 where it won the Award for Best Canadian Feature Documentary, was on TIFF's Canada's Top Ten list of the best features of the year, and was nominated for two Canadian Screen Awards.
