The official selection for the 2013 ViewFinders: Atlantic Film Festival For Youth Opening Gala film, BLACKBIRD, explores the power, and the danger, of social media and cyber-bullying, while showing us that the worst prisons are often the ones we create for ourselves. Starring Connor Jessup and Alexa Roy, the film is written and directed by local filmmaker Jason Buxton and produced by Marc Almon, Thom Fitzgerald (also local filmmakers) and David Miller.

The 12th annual ViewFinders: Atlantic Film Festival of Youth has come to a close. It was an extraordinary week for youth film. We definitely saw some world class short films from some exceptionally talented Atlantic Canadian young people. To all those who submitted films this year as well as those who support their dreams, thank you for participating.
